Study on the defect chemistry of Ca/sup 2+/ as acceptor dopant in BaTiO/sub 3/

摘要

The measurement of high-temperature conductivity and positron annihilation lifetime were used to analyze the defect chemistry of Ca-doped BaTiO/sub 3/. The results show that Ca/sup 2+/ can substitute for Ti/sup 4+/ and act as an acceptor dopant. The maximum solid solubility of Ca/sup 2+/ at the Ti/sup 4/ site is nearly 1.5 mol%. The solubility of Ca/sup 2+/ is consistent with the result obtained by XRD measurement published previously. Ca/sup 2+/ as an acceptor impurity is more efficient than others such as Al/sup 3+/. This may be related to the electron configuration of the ion.
