A test procedure for evaluation of cavitation damage of the cylinder liner walls of water-cooled diesel engines, a most important aspect in engine manufacture, was established. The authors studied cavitation damage employing visualization and other technologies, in particular, the observation of cavitation bubbles by stroboscope and the analysis of streak lines on cylinder liner walls.
