A system is described, which employs micro-computer to process and analyze hydrogen bubble flow visualization images automatically, and then the velocity field over an extended region in a time-dependent flow can be obtained. Hydrogen bubble flow visualization sequences are recorded using a video viewing and recording system and then digitized and stored by a IBM-PC computer. Employing special digital signal processing techniques and information acquisition methods, hydrogen bubble groups or lines are identified by the computer, which allows local velocity distribution in time-dependent flow to be established using what we will call "compared-two-frame" technique.
