摘要

Flow visualization of natural convection of a magnetic fluid in a cubic cavity has been carried out by using a liquid crystal. Temperature distributions on the wall are observed and developments of natural convection are qualitatively investigated. When a magnetic field is applied, dynamic characteristics of natural convection of a magnetic fluid are different from those in a non-magnetic field. These phenomena are dependent on a direction of a magnetic field gradient and its strength. Numerical simulations are also performed. These results are compared with experimental results.
