The dynamic characteristics of the Large scale coherent structures in forced free shear layer were experimentally studied by means of flow visualization. The quantitative measurement was made by using a LDV. It was shown that the development of the large scale structures and mixing in the layer can well be manipulated by artificially introducing upstream perturbations.
