A real-time velocity measurement system based on the digital image processing technigue has been developed for analyzing two-dimensional flow field . The system consists of a ITV camera with synchronized stroboscope, a digital image processor interfaced with personal computer and a high-speed image analysis algorithm. Flow field is visualized by several tracer particles. Using this system, the velocity vectors are extracted automatically from the particle images in consecutive TV frames. This system has been applied sucessfully to a guantitative analysis of the flow around rotating disks.
