In-toe gait is a common source of gait abnormalities. In many cases, patients have not receive appropriate treatments, then they suffering from leg pain, diminished walking distance, and a tendency to fall. The current study utilises a sensomotoric insert to improve gait and analysed its effect using directional statistics. The foot progression angle (FPA) is a critical measure of the in-toe gait. Although biomechanical measurements utilise directional data, directional statistics techniques have not been applied thus far in this field. We applied directional statistics methods to analyse the therapeutic effect of the SMI. The improvement in the gait was confirmed by performing a series of statistical tests on the mean, median, concentration, and distribution of the FPA values. This approach of directional statistics can be applied to many aspects of gait treatment.
