The research and development of a software and hardware complex that is provided for an installation on a robotic mobile platform. The device can determine the type of the surface on which the robot moves. Depending on the type of a surface, the platform can change its suspension configuration to improve the cross-country ability and handling of the platform.Data provided from the Device can be used to improve algorithms of self-driving unmanned ground mobile vehicles. The hardware part of the complex is a microcontroller with a MEMS navigation and orientation module on-board. The module represents a system of a 3-axis gyroscope and an accelerometer. The software part is a set of models obtained by analyzing signals from sensors processed using machine learning.Based on the data obtained from the sensors, algorithm determines the type of the surface the platform moves on.
