The divestiture of AT&T as well as the Modified Final Judgement rulings have direct and indirect impacts on the addressing and routing systems of the Bell operating companies'(BOCs) packet switched data networks,where the BOCs are planning to offer the Public Packet Switching Network(PPSN) services.Some of the BOCs are also plannins to use the same packet switched data network to meet their corporate data communication needs,which are not subject to the above restrictions.It is the purpose of this paper to describe the addressing and routing implications and requirements for the BOCs'PPSNs after the divestiture as well as the solutions Northern Telecom1 has developed on its SL-10 1 packet switching system to meet these requirements.
