CHEMICAL DETINNING -A NEW PROCESS BASED UPON OXIDATION-REDUCTION

摘要

This paper describes a new process for chemical detinning of tinplate based upon the oxidation-reduction process and on the oxidation power of tin. The use of this oxidising agent causes the ready dissolution of tin at room temperature and also of the intermetallic compounds which are byproducts of the steel industry. The process is also applicable to the treatment of used cans provided the necessary cleaning preparation has been performed including the dissolution of any lacquer by an appropriate solvent.
