The need for promotion of tinplate and of canned products is emphasised in the light of competition from other materials and processes. Areas where this promotion should be aimed are described and the form which it should take is discussed. Details are given of bodies concerned with tinplate promotion in the E.E.C. and the activities of Botte Mdtal Promotion S. A. and the Union Interprofessionnelle pour la Promotion des Industries de la Conserve in France are outlined.
