Producing waste derived biochars using wastewater sludge through pyrolysis process with different temperatures (300°C, 500°C, and 700°C) were evaluated. Produced biochar was tested for physical and chemical characteristics such as biochar yield, carbon (C) content, oxygen (O) content, nitrogen (N) content, phosphorous (P) content, ash content, pH, sludge moisture content, volatile matter content, water holding capacity, and nutrient removal capabilities. The control contained 100% sand while the experimental cell contained 1.0%, 5.0%, and 10.0% biochar with sand by mass. Sludge driven biochar application in soil mixture potential increase phosphorus into watershed and increase water-holding capacity. pH range is neutral which wastewater sludge driven biochar not required addition treatment to apply the field. Each sludge has similar water content and different ash, volatile matter, biochar producibility. Based on water holding research, adding biochar will provide significant improvement to water holding function and can support plant growth.
