摘要

This paper describes studies of the pressure-tension cycles associated with the growth and collapse of cavities in the cavitation of liquids. The instrument developed for this work and described in this paper combines the features of two established experimental techniques for the dynamic stressing of liquids, namely the 'bullet-piston' and 'tube-arrest' techniques. The former induces tension in liquids by conversion of a compressional pulse at a suitable boundary, while the latter, more direct technique involves the development of tension ab initio.
