摘要

This paper describes the planning and execution process of aDeepwater Gulf of Mexico operation involving samplingwhile drilling (SWD) performed in conjunction with realtimeoil-based mud (OBM) borehole imaging. The processincludes using decision trees to build the business case and acomparative modeling of the SWD clean out time using core,fluid, and drilling parameters as inputs. It also includesmodeling the effect of oil-based mud (OBM) contaminationon laboratory measurements necessary for understandingflow assurance. Authors leverage experience and informationavailable from wireline formation testing (WFT) fluidsampling in the same reservoir for several years and compareSWD and WFT technologies from this experience.
