An antenna design that supports a concept for a signal pixel imaging microwave radiometer is discussed. This unique aperture must provide a number of different sampling patterns for use with a compressive sensing algorithm, while maintaining good radiometric performance. The broad outlines of this aperture have been presented previously, but here, a more detailed design is presented, as well as the design for an intermediate flat plate test bed aperture that will be used to verify performance and functionality before the full system is developed. The simulated performance of a flat reflector such as the test bed, with and without focusing, is compared to that of the envisioned parabolic reflector.
