Hyperspectral imaging is a maturing technology that is finding applications in many industries and technologies. Hyperspectral imagers are complicated to manufacture and characterize, and it can be difficult to interpret the very large data sets they produce. Standards are needed to provide a foundation for hyperspectral instrument performance and comparison, absolute calibration and to organize data formats so there is a basis for exchange and interpretation of the measurement results. The IEEE P4001 working group was established to try to provide fundamental definitions, characterizations and data recommendations. This paper continues the report of progress of the second year of work of the new hyperspectral standards effort.[1].
