Distributed static synchronous series compensator (DSSC) is a kind of distributed flexible AC transmission systems (D-FACTS) that can be distributed installed on transmission lines. This paper analyzes the control principle of DSSC and establishes a DSSC dynamic mathematical model. To suppress the power oscillation of power system, this paper deduces the relation between the variation of generator angular velocity and the variation of DSSC pulse width modulation coefficient in a single-machine infinite system, establishes the transfer function of the control system and adopts the DSSC to improve the system power damping, reducing the power oscillation. The simulation model is built in the PSCAD/EMTDC, and the results show that the damped power control strategy of DSSC device can effectively suppress the power oscillation of the system
