Determining damage scenarios of power grid components in response to extreme weather events is the fist step for resiliency oriented power system studies. In this paper, a probabilistic procedure is proposed to generate hurricane induced damage scenarios of transmission network components. The affected areas of power systems due to hurricanes are determined based on general behavior of hurricane events. The proposed algorithm employs three probability damage functions related to moderate, severe, and complete damage states for transmission components. The Monte-Carlo simulation method followed by a scenario reduction technique is utilized to determine a tractable number of damage scenarios. The IEEE 118-bus test system is utilized as case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.
