A Dual-slot Coupled Multiple Dense Dielectric Patch Antenna With Wide Bandwidth

A wideband dual-slot coupled multiple dense dielectric (DD) patch antenna is proposed. Five modes including two modes (quasi-TM11 mode and quasi-TM21 mode) of DD patches and three modes of the dual slots can be obtained to achieve the wide bandwidth. In addition, the proposed antenna has the features of relatively high gain with a finite ground size when compared with the reported design. For demonstration, one prototype operating at 8.98 GHz is fabricated, which achieves the 10-dB impedance matching bandwidth of 81.9%, the peak gain of 9.27 dBi and the ground size of $0.63 lambda_{0}imes 0.78 lambda_{0} (lambda_{0}$ is the wavelength in the free space at the center frequency).
