The study examines the possibilities for detecting faults in belt drives of units driven by induction motors (IM). The possibilities for diagnosing, by stator current spectral analysis (MSCA), in case of loosening in the drive belts and combining the signs of this malfunction with other defects have been investigated. The article reviews the research in the field and presents experimental results obtained using a real physical model. A comparative analysis of the calculated and registered characteristic frequency components is made, which can be used as signs of the presence of defects in belt transmission mechanisms.
