Transformer evaluation system is complicated and includes many uncertainties, which seriously affect the diagnosis results in the traditional power transformer. In order to improve the accuracy of power transformer, a condition assessment method for power transformers based on variable weight principle and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is proposed in this paper. The key evaluation factors of the transformers state are established. Based on variable weight principle, a balanced function and the improved trapezium and triangle membership function are introduced to adjust the weight coefficient of various evaluation factors determined by analytic hierarchy process, which can get the matrix of fuzzy evaluation. Finally, the health status of power transformers is evaluated, which can reflect the operation status of transformers. The experimental results reveal that the accuracy of the method can reach to 91%, which can accurately assess the health status of the power transformer.
