API 682 is the leading document forrnmechanical seals in petrochemical, chemical, andrnpipeline services worldwide. It has combined thernaspects of seal design, testing, standardization, andrnapplications to provide the users and OEMs alikernwith a common source of information forrnmechanical seals. As seal technology hasrnadvanced, the standard has expanded to incorporaternnew seal designs, materials, seal selectionrnguidance, and piping plans. Although the standardrnis not yet published, the final draft has beenrnprepared and gives us notice of the upcomingrnrequirements. This tutorial will cover the majorrnchanges introduced in the Fourth Edition.
