Mathematical Modeling of Aeration Process in the Air-Water Interface

The work theoretically and experimentally investigates the kinetics of air entrained into the water caused by a jet of water falling vertically on the open water surface. A theoretical model of this phenomenon has been developed and verified by experimental tests to evaluate the role of air uptake, its removal through the air-water interface, the expulsion of water droplets from the water surface and the backflow process. The findings of both the theoretical and experimental study of the distribution of the air amount in the water below the air-water interface reveal an agreement between the data.
