A study of the change in the oscillation modes of the generator based on an avalanche-transit diode (ATDG) of an 8 mm wavelength range from the diode current was carried out by observing both the spectrum and time realizations from the output of the amplitude detector. When the diode current was changed from the starting (20mA) to the limiting (100mA), alternation of single-frequency generation with the generation of a broadband noise signal was observed, and in the former self-modulation of a broadband noise signal by low-frequency (LF) regular oscillations with two different periods T1 ≈ 15nsec and T2 ≈ 400 – 500nsec – 1.5μs.
