Space charge buildup at interfaces pose great challenges when designing cable accessories. With space charges at interfaces, the electrical field can be locally enhanced and lead to failure. In order to get better information about the space charge buildup at silicone grease / silicone elastomer interfaces, the LIPP-method has been used in order to evaluate charge decay in dependence of temperature. It is shown, that with rising temperatures the amount of heterocharges at the electrode / silicone grease interface increases significantly. Furthermore it will be shown that interface charges prevail at lower temperatures while vanishing at higher temperatures.
