A Survey On Computational Intelligence Techniques For Non Intrusive Load Monitoring

Energy monitoring is one of the important points of a Home Energy Management System (HEMS) and aims to perform itemized energy detection in order to extract information on the distribution of energy consumed. This task can be accomplished by installing measuring devices at every load of interest or by using Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) methods, which desegregate the overall electricity usage, utilizing a measure of the load at the utility service entry. In this paper, we first present a comprehensive literature review of the most important and recent computational intelligence techniques for energy disaggregation proposed in the literature. Afterward, we discuss the limitations of the studied works and then highlight challenges and guidelines for future research.
