Attaining High Efficiency with Low Voltage Gain: Performance Evaluation of the Proposed DC-DC Buck Converter

DC-DC buck conversion is a process which accurately transforms high voltage input to low voltage output. Thus, creating opportunities to downsize heat and concurs for smaller apparatus to be constructed as competent power conversion lengthens battery life. To achieve higher capability in reaching low voltage gain, the proposed converter exists of three inductors instead of two inductors of the traditional converter. The proposed converter uses inductors and output capacitor in the circuit from source (DC) to load resistor, for transferring energy and also reducing the voltage range to the output for acquiring efficiency that is higher than conventional one. The overall performance and efficiency is found superior of the proposed converter to the conventional converter based on simulation, investigation and experiment under both OFF and ON state conditions.
