In order to incorporate enterprise management and control, seamless integration of information and control network is demanded. In this paper, Modbus/TCP and industrial switches based network control system is proposed for the water process in a firepower plant. The Modbus/TCP industrial Ethernet protocol was analyzed. The network structure and communication mode were investigated. In addition, the network delay was analyzed, which is of the importance in the real-time industrial control field. The system was realized in water process system of the firepower plant. The proposed control system is reliable and the network's celerity is satisfied after running six months. The system's successful application indicates the importance of industrial Ethernet in the dispersal process control field.
