Rule descriptions for telecommunication services and theirtransformation into standardized specification descriptions

As telecommunication software has become more complex andsophisticated, designers have been obliged to devote considerable timeand effort to software development. Specification description techniqueis an important approach for improving software productivity. However,to achieve high productivity, design support in early stages of softwaredevelopment is even more important. The authors describe a specificationmethod, STR (state transition rule) method, and its verification method.The method allows them to specify and verify service behaviour in theearly stages of software development. This paper discusses thetransformation of STR descriptions into standardized specificationdescriptions, such as SDL (functional specification descriptionlanguage). The transformation assumes a certain software architectureand generates interactions among terminals
