Structure from motion: a region based approach using affinetransformations and moment invariants

A region-based method to solve the structure and motion problem ispresented. Region matchings between images are accomplished by usingaffine invariants. No feature extraction or segmentation is needed inthe matching process. Having recovered the region matches, a closed-formsolution for the camera motion and the 3-D structures of the regions canbe obtained. The advantage of this approach is that it gives completestructure and motion estimation at low computational cost
