For multiprocessor architecture (MPA) software radios, allocatingthe functions to the processors appropriately and controlling multipleinterruptions between the processors are important issues in achievingreal-time processing ability. This paper describes the design andevaluation of Japanese Personal Handy-phone System (PHS) softwareimplemented in an MPA software radio platform for the realization offull-duplex real-time communication. A novel API between the CPU and DSPprograms is shown that achieves real-time performance. Average DSP loadand processing delay characteristics of the PHS software are measured;the results show that real-time communication was successfully achieved
