On the integration of MPEG-4 video streams with voice and e-maildata packet traffic over wireless picocellular networks

A new medium access control (MAC) protocol for mobile wirelesscommunications is presented and investigated. We explore, via anextensive simulation study, the performance of the protocol whenintegrating voice, MPEG-4 video and e-mail data packet traffic over awireless channel of high capacity. Our scheme achieves high aggregatechannel throughput in all cases of traffic load, while preserving thequality of service (QoS) requirements of each traffic type
