Automatic mitotic index estimation for the prognostication ofbreast cancer from histology images

A method of automatically estimating the mitotic index of breasttissue samples is presented. The motivation for an automatic method isto minimise this time-consuming repetitive task demanded of experiencedpathologists. The method used consists of two image processing stageswhich extract features that are suitable for pattern recognition.
