A multipurpose sensor for on-line measurement of quality variablesin papermaking

This paper describes a novel sensor designed to provideinformation on some basic variables of paper during its manufacture.Depending on the type of grade, the instrument is easily configurable tomeasure anyone of three variables, namely: dimensional variations ofpaper (shrinkage), flocculation and creeping (tissue paper). The paperpresents the basic concepts behind each technique used and describes thehuman interfaces of this equipment. Finally, the problem of spectralrotation due to camera misadjustments is addressed
