An expert system for the fault diagnosis of the ENEL StandardizedDistribution Control System

The authors describe the `SEM' expert system, developed to improvethe fault diagnosis of the central equipment of the StandardizedDistribution Control System, called STU, which is in operation in mostof the Italian Regional Centres, for the remote control of ENELdistribution HV/MV substations. Following a brief reference to STUarchitecture, the authors stress the reasons which have led to theimplementation of SEM and outline its main features. Preliminary resultsare also considered and discussed
