The rotor windings of large generators are usually cooled byhydrogen flowing through ducts within the winding. A detailed computermodel, ROTH, has been developed to predict asymmetric temperaturedistributions. The original version was limited to rotors with axialcooling, but now it has been extended to handle radially-cooled rotors. The approximate method for estimating thermal bend has also been greatlyimproved. The author describes these enhancements, and validates them bycomparing them with a simplified analytical solution, with anindependently developed computer program and with limited experimentaldata
