After the local breakdown of the metallized film, the self-healingof the capacitor is influenced by several factors, including thecapacitance of metallized capacitor, pressure, as well as the appliedvoltage. In this paper, they are investigated fundamentally in referenceto their influence towards the insulation recovery of the metallizedpolypropylene. Single metallized polypropylene film and metallized filmcapacitors are used as experimental samples to study the effect of thesefactors after local breakdown of the film under the conditions ofimpregnation and nonimpregnation. The results show that, these factorsimpose their influences via the infusion energy passing the breakdownpath. It is also found that excess the infusion energy will be adverseto the self-healing of metallized polypropylene capacitors
