摘要

Based on the concept of the variable discharge areas of partialdischarges (PDs), a numerical calculation method was put forward tosimulate the PD pattern. In addition the critical field for PDoccurrence and the residual field, a new parameter Es isintroduced in this model to determine the discharge area. Theprobability for discharge propagation along the surface is assumed to bedetermined by the field distribution on the surface. The dischargepropagation is terminated when the field in the perimeter segments ofthe PD paths on the surface becomes less than Es. Byincreasing Es transition to swarming pulsive microdischarges(SPMD) is obtained. The rabbit-like PD pattern can be simulated ifassuming surface conductivity of the void. Unlike the conventionalsimulation models that attribute the different PD behavior to thedifferent probability for PD occurrence, this model might provide a newapproach to connect the PD behavior with the surface condition of theinsulating materials (e.g. the surface conductivity, the property fordischarge propagation on the surface etc.)
