Application of Choke Element to Dual-Band Reflector Backed Dipole Antenna Loading Meander-Loop Parasitic Element

This paper investigates to integrate 2GHz band reflector backed dipole antenna (RBDA) into our previously proposed meander-loop-parasitic-element (MLPE) loaded 800MHz band RBDA. We found that the currents induced on the MLPE severely distort the 2GHz band radiation characteristics. To suppress the distortion in the 2GHz radiation pattern, a MLPE configuration equipping chokes is proposed and the effectiveness is evaluated.
