the air circuit breaker is a switching equipment which can be operated manually as well as automatically for controlling and protecting in electrical power system. As well known, polymer materials have been used in air circuit breakers. During current interruption in the air circuit breaker, an arc discharge touches the insulator, and ablation gasses are emitted. In order to enhance the breaking performance of an air circuit breaker. We are conducting the experiments with four kinds of polymer materials. With these experiments, the comparison among four kinds of polymer materials will be demonstrated, the enhancement of the breaking performance of an air circuit breaker will be discussed.
