Adaptive Optics in Vision Science: A Look Back … and Forwards

In this talk I will review some of the history of adaptive optics (AO) in vision science. AOhas been used to enhance retinal imaging, enable new types of psychophysical measurementsin vision science, and has also influenced related areas, such as the design of intraocularlenses for cataract surgery. As to the future, can we simplify AO technology so that it is morereadily accessible to and useful to clinicians and life science researchers?
