A microstrip and a printed monopole antenna were designed for 5.8 GHz frequency band on the same 0.5 mm thick high dielectric constant substrate. For printed monopole antenna, a new arrowhead antenna is proposed. The arrowhead monopole antenna exhibit a 2.75 GHz impedance bandwidth, much larger than the 30 MHz bandwidth of the microstrip rectangular antenna. However, the antenna patterns show that the arrowhead monopole antenna exhibit lower directivity than the rectangular microstrip antenna.
