As part of a class project at North Dakota State University (NDSU), a tunable loop antenna was designed, constructed and tested for use in the 10 to 30 MHz frequency range. The performance of the loop was also simulated with MININEC, a method-of-moments computer code. The loop incorporates a unique tuning capacitor that allows the user to easily adjust the resonant frequency. Design considerations are described, along with measurement and simulation results.
