TOWARDS SAFETY CERTIFICATION WITH REUSABLE SW COMPONENTS IN SPACE

Software systems are becoming more and more relevant in allkind of industry domains and therefore, much more complex.This is leading to an increase of SW certification costs, especiallyin those domains with safety-relevant conditions, e.g., Space OnboardComputing. This paper firstly presents the ARTEMISproject SafeCer, a cross-domain project for re-use certification inseveral domains; secondly, the work that GMV and TAS-E willcarry out on the Aerospace Demonstrator of SafeCer isintroduced. This demonstrator will apply the SafeCer GenericProcess Model for SW certification to a relevant SWfunctionality of on-board space systems through the usage of aselection of SafeCer notations and tools. The results to beobtained from this study will be analyzed with respect to thecurrent ESA procedures and production costs, focusing on SWreuse capabilities, in order to assess the potential application toECSS standards. New tools and methodologies will be presentedto the community.
