With China’s accessing to WTO and successful bid of 2008 Olympics,its construction enterprises,as one of four pillar industries in national economy,has witnessed a pronounce life in both its status and importance. To China, construction enterprises, which just stepped into a special development period, are enjoying increasing wide attentions. As far as construction enterprises concerned, core competence is the key competus for their growth, so the growth strategy of construction enterprises should connected with core competence. Through the elaboration to the construction enterprise's core competence and the specialization strategy and the diversification strategy, and the definition to the specialization strategy and the diversification strategy, this paper establishes the specialization and the diversification growth strategy choice matrix of construction enterprise based on core competence,and proposes the construction enterprise's growth strategy which should adopt to various stages of the growth life cycle. The financial indexes are categorized into three parameter groups,that is, time,period,and curvature,which are employed to characterize the different life cycles. Analysis frame is proposed based on the core competence of different construction enterprises. It is concluded that different growing strategy should be adapted in different life cycle phases to enhance the core competitive edge. The frame proposed for the enterprise’s life cycle is verified being applicable and operable.
