1995 AIAA Space Programs Technologies Conference (SPTC) Sessions reinventing air force space

The Reinventing Air Force Space Action Team was directed by Air Force Space Command (AFSPC/XP) and Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC/CC) to jointly develop a new comprehensive and innovative approach for developing and deploying space capabilities for the 1990s and beyond. The team identified specific implementable actions which focused on Air Force (AF) space programs and structures, roles and responsibilities, planning and associated processes at the Major Command and lower level, all leading to an integrated business strategy with accompanying implementation plans. Our space management and operations are optimized on Cold War imperatives and outdated technical and industrial paradigms. The resultant "overhead" is undermining our ability to invest in the future. External adhocracies are running our business while we play catch up. Culture change is mandatory for the AF to accomplish its mission.
