This study investigates the 2D hydrodynamic impact problem of abreaking wave hitting violently a vertical impermeable wall. Our methodof solution is analytical. To this end, a slightly overturning breakingwave is simplified in a logical manner. It is assumed that a small airpocket is entrapped between the wall and the wave. The associatedmixed boundary value problem (BVP) involves dual trigonometricalseries and is solved for the leading order. A perturbation method isapplied to cope with the kinematic and dynamic free surface boundaryconditions. Results are derived for the velocity potential and the freesurface elevation on the wall.
