With influence of current, the platform and the connected riser formrelative motion in the flow. In this paper, A computational fluiddynamics (CFD) model is built by strip theory and Bernoulli–Eulerbending beam model. Based on this numerical model, the platformmotions and corresponding current velocities are employed toinvestigate the responses of the riser. The numerical results indicate thatthe dominant crossflow and inline vibration modes are increased withthe current velocity. The amplitudes of crossflow and inline vibrationmodes show periodic variations with the increase in the amplitude of thesurge motion and the current velocity. The similar vortex shedding modein the uniform flow is observed during vortex-induced vibrations of riserunder the low frequency platform motions.
