This paper presents an experimental investigation on concomitantvortex-induced vibration and cross flow top-motion excitation withflexible risers. The riser can was mounted vertically, with the diameterof 2 cm and the length of 5 m. The responses of trajectory, amplitude,frequency and other parameters were analyzed in detail underconditions of different excitation amplitude and frequency in uniformflow. It was found that the concomitant VIV and top-motion excitationsignificantly affects the flexible cylinder response when compared tothe pure VIV tests.
