Offshore aquaculture structures such as kelp farm are exposedto environmental loads including winds, waves and currents. Aproper design of main components and mooring system, makingthe structure have sufficient strength capacity withstand theultimate, accidental and fatigue loads. Additionally, structuralintegrity is also important to avoid damage and economic loss.To investigate the dynamic response of a horizontal kelp farm inwaves and current, experiments have been performed on a submodelof kelp farm. A horizontal textile sheet with simplifiedmooring was tested in a towing tank with various environmentalconditions. The tests showed that the textile experience aparachute effect if the current or current and waves are above acritical sea state. This results can be used as input to the designof mooring system of kelp farm.
